For your Community
Prepared Pets-
At the conclusion of this day-long interactive workshop pet owners will go home with the framework for their own personal preparedness plan. As they work through the day, attendees will discover what specific threats to prepare for, what resources are available to them and how to best assemble the supplies to meet the specific needs of their animals. The emphasis will be on developing plans and kits that are tailored to individual needs and circumstances. No two families look the same; neither should their disaster plans.

For Shelter Staff and Volunteers
Emergency Preparedness and Sheltering-
This introductory workshop will help shelter workers discover the most common challenges in disaster preparedness and response. The first half of this day-long workshop walks participants through the many factors to consider in preparing for disaster. Participants learn what to prepare for, how to manage their daily operations in the midst of chaos and how to effectively communicate with the public in order to achieve the best outcomes possible.
The second half of the day will be dedicated to emergency sheltering. Whether you need to increase your sheltering capacity, are displaced from your permanent shelter or are tasked with setting up an emergency shelter for your community, the methods and challenges are all the same. This afternoon session will give attendees a working understanding of the basic principles of emergency sheltering so that they can then work towards developing their own, custom plans to work within their community.
